Although only five months young, dronologista blog has grown and needs a new attire.

As of 1st of September, dronologista.com moves to a new hosting, new address and slightly changes the appearance . Content will remain the same, and dronologista will continue to provide information about non-military drones only.

AerialTronics is Netherlands based company producing and maintaining state-of-the-art camera drones for multiple purposes. Their core product is Altura, and the latest addition to Altura family is Zenith.

Designing a UAV around cornerstones such as beauty and performance is no easy task. Often those two don’t go well together, but guys from AerialTronics managed to do remarkably well. Hidden behind super flat design, Zenith carries 20.000 mAh, facilitating up to 50 minutes of flight time with total payloads of 1,2kg for lighter Zenith ATX4, and 3,0kg for heavier Zenith ATX8. Propulsion system consists of 4 (ATX4)or 8 (ATX8) 350W brushless motors, coupled with 18″ carbon coaxial propellers, enabling up to 16kg of vertical thrust. Zenith can be controlled by tablet or by an RF joystick.

Modular payload system enables swift switching of payload, and is compatible with wide variety of payload and gimbals. Both ATX4 and ATX8 are designed to ensure highest level of safety. Multiple redundancies e.g. ability to fly with three motors off (ATX8 model), failsafe emergency landing and ability to fly in storm force winds (14 m/s) will help Altura operator to avoid incidents.

    Slick product design and slick marketing, but what about the maturity and reliability of the avionics?

      Without thorough testing or first hand user experience, I think it is impossible to draw a conclusion on that.
      I haven’t found neither test nor user testimony online.
      Do you know if someone tested or used it?

    But is there no place on the entire net, where users can share experiences on such matters? I was searching quite a bit, and found nothing…
